Master of Christian Education

Program Description and Objectives:

The Master of Christian Education is designed to prepare students for further study, in preparation for an advanced study or employment that requires a master’s degree. This program concentrates especially on the upper division biblical courses including biblical languages, methods of exegesis theology, and hermeneutics.

Total Credit requirement: 96 credits

Program Learning Outcomes:

The Master of Christian Education at Lumina Christian University forms advanced leaders, teachers, and administrators for the church and world. Rooted in biblical and theological identity (Identity), the program cultivates spiritual formation and educational excellence (Life), and equips graduates to lead missionally with wisdom, integrity, and Christlike character (Destiny). Graduates will be able to:

Demonstrate advanced competence in Scripture and Christian theology for educational leadership.
Apply learning science (ed., psychology, curriculum, assessment, technology) within Christian contexts.
Lead ministries and schools with ethical governance, data-informed decisions, and servant leadership.
Engage culture missionally, integrating faith with real-world challenges in diverse settings.
Formulate and implement a biblically grounded philosophy of Christian education for sustainable impact.

Admission Requirements:

Anyone possessing a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent meets the basic academic requirement for admission to the program. See the section on admissions criteria, earlier in this catalog, for additional requirements.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission to the Master of Christian Education program:

1. Applicants for admission must hold a Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree from a university or college with at least

a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (4.00 scale) and must submit official transcripts for their academic work.

Program Graduation Requirements:

As stated above, a minimum of 5 credits of general study courses, 24 credits of general education, 18 credits of Bible and Education, Students are also required to take at least 28 credits of Christian Education and 21 credits of Christian Ministry in any of the classifications.
